Bible for Children |
The family illustrates the unity of God.
"And they shall be one flesh"
two became one, as God is one.
"Therefore shall a man leave
his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall
be one flesh" (Genesis 2:24).
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our
God is one LORD:" (Deuteronomy 6:4).
Three Essentials for a
Christian Home
Deuteronomy 6:4-9
-
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD
our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with
all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And
these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:"
-
"And thou shalt teach them
diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest
in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest
down, and when thou risest up."
-
"And thou shalt bind them
for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine
eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy
gates."
The Role of the Wife
I Peter 3:1-6
1
Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own
husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word
be won by the conversation of the wives; 2
While they behold your chaste conversation coupled
with fear. 3 Whose adorning let it
not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing
of gold, or of putting on of apparel; 4
But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is
not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit,
which is in the sight of God of great price. 5
For after this manner in the old time the holy women also,
who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own
husbands: 6 Even as Sara obeyed
Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well,
and are not afraid with any amazement.
The Role of the Husband
"Husbands, love your
wives, and be not bitter against them" (Colossians 3:19).
The Role of Children
"My son, hear the instruction
of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:" (Proverbs 1:8).
