THE BIBLE
The Bible is the greatest book ever written and through its
Scriptures God speaks to man, giving him divine instruction. It’s
Scriptures offer comfort in sorrow, guidance in perplexity, counsel for
our problems, rebuke for our sins, and inspiration for our daily life.
The Bible reveals the truth about God. It explains the origin of
man, points out the only way to salvation and eternal life, and explains
the problems of sin and suffering.
The theme throughout the Bible is Jesus Christ and His work of
redemption for mankind. The person and work of Jesus Christ are
promised, prophesied, and pictured in the types and symbols of the Old
Testament. Christ is revealed in the gospels; and the purpose of
His life, His death, and resurrection are explained in the epistles.
His coming again, and the glories of heaven, is foretold in the book of
Revelation. The purpose of the Bible is to reveal the living Word
of God, the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Bible is the foundation upon which all of our beliefs rest.
Edward J. Young once wrote, “If we do not build upon the impregnable
rock of infallible Scripture we shall ever be at the mercy of the latest
whims and fancies”.
