A GLORIOUS HOPE

“Whom He justified, them he also glorified.”   Romans 8:30

What precious truths can be found in God’s Holy Word!  We may be poor, or unappreciated, but we can take encouragement in our calling and the blessings that flow to us from it.  As surely as we are one of God’s children today, so surely will our troubles and trials soon be at an end.  As surely as we are one of his children, so surely will we one day receive our inheritance prepared and preserved for us.  Our weary hand here shall one day grasp the palm branch of victory there.  Sure our troubles may bring us grief here (“in the world you will have tribulation”), but we can rejoice that Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law and sin by becoming a curse for us (Gal. 3:13) so that one day soon we will enter into his presence where “there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying” (Rev. 21:4).  The chariots that bore Elijah home to glory will one day stoop low to bear us home to glory.

Even now nothing can separate us from the love of Him that “loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood” (Rev 1:5).  By His death, burial, and resurrection, our sins have been separated from us as far as the east is from the west (Psalms 103:12).  By His grace we have been clothed in our dear Savior’s righteousness, pronounced righteous, and made fully accepted in Him.  By His mercy we have been quickened and made partakers of the divine nature by His mighty power.  We now have access into His presence and are indwelt by the Holy Spirit.  One day soon the everlasting song of redemption shall be on our lips.  One soon heavens gates will open wide to us.

Persecution, distress, trials, disease, sin, and death only cause us to set our affections on things above and remember that what He has promised that will He also do.  He has bound us to Him by an unbreakable chain.  The fires of persecution, the anguish of trials and suffering, even the hammer of hell itself cannot break one link of that chain.  The voice which called us to salvation will one day call us to heaven’s immortal glory.  He who justified us loves us with an everlasting love that began before the world was, and shall never lose its fervor throughout eternity.  He who spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us will not accept one charge which Satan or the world may hurl at us.  He who bore our sins in His own body even now lives to make intercession for us in heaven itself.  Rest assured dear believer you are precious to Him and He loves you with an infinite love which will not let you go.  As the writer of Psalms declares “In thy presence is fullness of joy, at thy right hand are pleasures ever more.” (16:11)  Take heart, weary Christian, rest from our cares, new bodies like our Savior, rewarding fellowship with Him, and unending pure service to Him, will soon be our lot for ever and ever.
