Christ The Matchless Saviour

"For there is no restraint to the Lord to save by many or by few" (I Samuel 14:6).

Written by
B. A. Wilson

There are many scriptures that lead a Bible reader to believe Jesus was and is: a Matchless miracle worker, as well as the Matchless Saviour. Who could open blinded eyes of one born blind? Only God. Jno. 9:32-33. Who could cause the sea and the wind to obey, as did Jesus in Matt. 8:26-27. Some of his enemies said; "Never man spake like this man.'' Jno. 7:46. Peter declared: ''Neither is there salvation in any other." Acts 4:12. Paul said: "Wherefore God hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name.'' Phil. 2:9. All these give us positive proof that He is matchless in power, love and grace. Now may we look at more Bible proofs?

I

HE CAN SAVE ANY NUMBER

Our Matchless Lord can save one, as He did the sinful woman at Jacob.'s well, Jno. 4:26; although she had been the wife of five men, and at the time was living with a man out of wedlock. What a great sinner she was! Or as Saul, who was a Jesus hater, yet Christ loved this one man. Gal. 2:20; Acts 9:5-6. He can save an household as that of Cornelius. Acts 10:43-48. He can save 3,000 as on Pentecost in one day. Acts 2:41. He can save a Nation as He will on His return in glory. Isa. 66:8-9; Rom. 11:25-26. Through this seer the Lord invites "all the ends of the earth to look to Him and be saved." Isa. 45:22. With Samuel Stennett, let us sing: "No mortal can with Him compare, Among the sons of men; Fairer is He than all the fair that fill the heavenly train.''

II

HE CAN SAVE ANYWHERE

He can save in a chariot as He saved the eunuch on the desert road. Acts 8:26-40. When the eunuch learned that Jesus was the suffering Lamb of Isaiah 53 he was saved. Have you believed in this Lamb that was wounded, bruised and punished for you? The Lord prolonged His days, which was His resurrection from the dead without a doubt. Where ever you are, the moment you trust Christ, you will be saved, then and there. A Christian once stated he was born twice in the same bed; his first birth, he was born of the flesh, the second birth took place years later during a serious illness, confined to the bed in which his first birth took place, as a ''man of God'' told him of the love and grace of God for sinners, and he was born of God.

He can save on a cross, as He saved the dying thief. Luke 23:39-43. Whether in a chariot, on the road, in a house, on a bed. sick or well, on a cross, or a gallows, in a gas chamber, or in an electric chair, this Matchless Saviour can save you now. "He that believeth on the SON hath Everlasting Life." Jno. 3:36. The writer was saved more than 30 years ago, while traveling in an automobile on a country road. But that is as fresh to us as cold water on a hot day, or as fresh as the morning dew, as a man of God told us of the Saviour who came to seek and to save that which was lost. Luke 19: 10. Many of the Jews were saved in Egypt while they were in bondage in this African country. Numbers were saved in Asian cities such as: Jerusalem, Samaria, Ephesus, and other towns. In European countries and cities like Philippi, Corinth, Berea, and Rome. Christ Jesus can save anywhere.

III

HE CAN SAVE ANYTIME

The jailor was saved at midnight. Acts 16:25-34. The thief on the cross between the sixth and ninth hour (twelve and three in the afternoon) Matt. 27:45-46. Paul at Midday. Acts 26:13. He saved Nichodemus at night. Jno. 3:1-16. He saved Samuel while a child and called him as a prophet. I Sam. 3:1-21.

He saved Timothy as a child. II Tim. 3:15. The time of day or night, your age whether young or old, has nothing to do with Christ's ability to save a poor sinner. ''He is able to save them unto the uttermost that come unto God by Him." Heb.7:25. Believe in Him and receive Eternal life. Jno. 6:47. The thief was in a state of guilt in the morning, a state of grace in the afternoon, and a state of glory that night, for he was with the Lord in paradise. Luke 23:39-43. It was William Cowper who wrote, "The dying thief rejoiced to see That fountain in his day; And there may I, though vile as he, wash all my sins a-way.'' Do you know, my friend, that your sins are washed away in the blood of the Lamb? This is the most important thing for you to know in life. God's time for you is now.

IV

HE CAN SAVE ANYONE

He saved an harlot like Rahab. Heb. 11:31. He saved a crooked tax collector like Zacchaeus. Luke 19:1-10. He saved a fisherman like Peter, who wrote two books of the Bible. He saved a doctor like Luke, who wrote two books of the Bible. He saved a lawyer like Zenas. Tit. 3:13. He saved an educated man like Nicodemus. Jno. 3:1-16; 19:39-40. He saved a religious outlaw like Saul of Tarsus. Acts 9:1-6. He saved a soldier like Cornelius. Acts 10:21-22:34-37. He saved a saleslady like Lydia. Acts 16:14-15. He saved a fortune teller like the damsel. Acts 16:16-18. He saved a Prime-Minister and Prophet like Daniel. He saved a runaway slave like Onesimus. Philemon 1:8-18. He saved a beggar like Lazarus, for he was carried by the angels to Abraham's bosom. Luke 16:22. You, dear reader, are one of the: ALL HAVE SINNED, Rom. 3:23. You may be an educated sinner, or an uneducated sinner, a rich sinner, poor sinner, an adulterous sinner, a lying sinner, a covetous sinner. Whatever kind of a sinner you are - "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. I Tim. 1:15. ''Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree,'' I Peter 2:24; ''Christ suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit." I Pet. 3:18. He is alive forevermore and has the keys of hell and death. Rev. 1:18. He can save anyone, and you are someone. He can save anywhere, and you are in the world. He can save anytime, it is either day or night where you are now, God tells you He loves you in Jno. 3:16; Rom. 5:8, and that Christ died for you, I Cor. 15:3-4. Won't you believe in Him now and be saved?

We are told in Romans 4:5, that we do not have to work to be justified, or to be made righteous; ''But to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.'' This also says the ungodly are the ones who are justified. All of Adam's race naturally believes that you must be good. 'You must be Godly to be justified.' But the scripture does not say that. They tell you that you are not good, that you are ungodly. Our Matchless Saviour did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. If you were sick and called the doctor to relieve you of your pains, and if he should say, ''You must get rid of your miseries before I can cure you.'' Would you not dismiss him and call another doctor? If you have good judgment you certainly would. The religious and false teachers that tell sinners if they will clean up, quit your meanness, turn your back on your sins, and the Lord will save you up to that time. If a poor old sinner could do all that he would not need a Saviour. Christ is able to do all the saving. Heb. 7:25. "For there is no restraint to the Lord to save by many or by few." The Lord is not short of power, love, or grace; ''He is plenteous in mercy." PS. 103:8.

V

HE CAN SAVE FOREVER

Those who have believed the written Word of God, as to what Jesus has suffered for sinners, how Christ, laid down His life for us. Jno.10:-15-18. "How Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; was buried, and raised again the third day." I Cor. 15:3-4. Isa. 53:1-12 tells us how this was to be, and spoke of it as though it was already accomplished. Christ said my sheep "Shall never perish." Jno. 10:28. He states that He gives Eternal Life. If one could lose this Life, it would not be eternal. So He saves forever. Paul tells us in Romans 8:1, that there is therefore now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. We can be sure of one thing here, and that is there is no condemnation for one in Christ Jesus. In the 39th verse he says there is no separation from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. In I John 5:13, we are told that those who "believe on the name of the Son of God, may know they have eternal life."' He is an Eternal God. He is an Eternal Saviour. He gives Eternal life to those who believe on (into) Him. Therefore, when one is saved, they are saved FOREVER! "Salvation is of the Lord." Jonah 2:9. "I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be forever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him." Eccl. 3:14. "My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him. His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven." Ps. 89:28-29. "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases." Psalms 103:2-3.
